Does individualized instruction
mean the same as 1:1 ratio?
No,
students who receive individualized instruction may work in a group
setting. Individualized instruction
means students work on individual programs that were custom designed to meet
their needs. Taylor
Tutoring Services offer 1:1 up to 1:5 ratio, depending on the student’s needs.
What is skill building?
Taylor
Tutoring Services identifies the gaps in students’ learning that has caused
them to fall behind. We then use our
customized instruction to build skills and close academic achievement gaps. Programs
are designed based on the student’s instructional level.
Does Taylor Tutoring Services provide homework help?
Students
who are struggling academically will not benefit from mere homework help. Problems with classwork/homework are symptoms
of deeper underlying issues. Helping
students with homework (worksheets or a page from a textbook) is only a “band-aid” and
will not fix the problem. Taylor Tutoring Services address the underlying
issues and use customized programs to build the necessary skills. For example, if a student is struggling with equivalent fractions,
giving the student more fractions is not the solution. The student will most
likely benefit from building multiplication skills and then progressing to
fractions, thus, addressing the underlying issue.
Are
potential students required to take an assessment?
Taylor
Tutoring Services does not inundate already struggling students with cumbersome
exams. If a student has a recent
assessment from a school or an institution of instruction, we will use data
from previously taken assessments.
